Well here is the story....

Gloria Molina is painting over the Meeting of Styles murals

What does Gloria Molina think of the arts? Very little in fact she calls some of it vandalism. Not sure how many of you had the chance to see the historic event at the LA River where more than 150 graff artists painted murals on both sides of the LA River making it the largest graff event on the western hemisphere, second to Germany's same event. You had the new school graff artists painting alongside legends. Well it was too good to to be true cuz with all the necessary permits from LA County, the city of LA and the Army Corp of Engineers, Gloria Molina's taste and ego won over and she ordered the white washing of the murals which they started doing this weekend.

This is a battle of censorship and for preservation of the arts in this City, as we have seen murals in schools being painted over because of cultural & political content that someone decided wasn't art or appropriate. This battle could set a historic precedent for art in LA but especially for our nieghborhoods and youth.
